Preparation for sleep study Prior
to your sleep study appointment, the following is required: 1. Refrain from napping on the day of the
test. 2. Do not consume any alcohol on the day of
the test. 3. Do not consume caffeine (Coffee, soda,
tea, etc.), past 10 AM on the day of the test. 4. Just before you leave home, bathe or
shower, wash hair and do not use any make-up, hair spray or conditioners. This is
required so that the various electrodes adhere to the body.
Skin oils, hair products and make-up interfere with this procedure. 5. No nail polish. 6. Bring appropriate sleeping attire
(two-piece pajama preferred).
7. If you are on medications, take as usual
unless otherwise instructed by your
physician. 8. When it is time for the test to begin,
reading is not allowed. 9. You may bring your pillow if you wish.
Stacking of pillows is not
done unless your doctor specifically allows it.
This is so we set proper positioning during the recordings. 10. Report to the Sleep Lab at the appropriate
time indicated, ring the door-bell
and the Technician will come down
and let you in. You will be ending
your study by 6 AM the following day. Please
make arrangements to be picked up
by 6 AM if you do not drive to the sleep lab. Directions to the sleep Lab. (Lab. location is different from our Mahopac Office) Phone No. for the lab is 621-8669 (only during the sleep study nights). |
